I first saw one of these at a sawmill near my home. What impressed me was the mass of the arm and the geometry of the machine that makes it operate much like a sliding compound mitre saw. I bought this machine from a Pennsylvania machinery dealer through an on line auction. It was in surprisingly good shape motor bearings seem good, original paint not bad for a machine that is probably 50 years old. The saw appears to be complete and original except for the guard which I'm sure was replaced since it bears the Northfield name. The 5 HP motor is of the same manufacturer as the motor on my AMF/Monarch/DeWalt 20" bandsaw I have listed on this site. It is a Star-Kimble Motor Division of Miehle Printing Press and Mfg. Co. Bloomfield, NJ. The bandsaw is identical to one listed under American Saw Mill Machinery.
