Comments:
This lathe was purchased in 1950 (or perhaps 1951) along with a 704.21340 stand, 115.7300 motor, and various accessories and tools.
I acquired it in 2024. It had been stored for decades in a museum warehouse workshop. I re-configured the motor mounting, cleaned and lubed everything.
Note that the countershaft is installed "backwards", vs what is shown in the Sears catalogs. This facilitates mounting the motor directly under the lathe, instead of protruding on the left side (which would increase the footprint). I'm new at metal turning, but it seems to be working fine.
