Combination sash and miter trimmer.
This little hundred year old machine was offered for sale locally twice within the last five weeks. The first time I missed out, but the buyer-who-was-quicker relisted it after cleaning it up. We agreed on a price and I picked it up last night. It is (with one small exception) in excellent condition. Seems to have never been abused or treated roughly. The sash trimmer knives are long gone and the machine as I received it doesn’t appear to have had those knives installed in a long time. Though the wooden tracks on that side suggest at one time it must have had a set of knives installed. It would be great fun to find or have a set of knives made for it to utilize both functions. A machine that accomplishes both of these functions is really quite brilliant, especially for the space-constrained sash maker.
No badging or other identification anywhere. We only know its provenance because Mike’s miter chopper has a Greenfield badge, and he found the 1928 patent for this machine, issued to William H Greenfield who worked for Tregoning Boat Co. and then Tregoning Manufacturing Co. (1920).
