Found on Craigslist ad in 2014 from a storage unit the po was clearing out so the price was good. Basically in condition shown without the Vari-slo option which was purchased later from another enabler. Both sat until this year after being pushed around and looked long enough. From the info on the power bronze paint history which indicates late 1956 start point this appears to be an early one with a motor tag of 10 56. The funny part about this drill press is that after deciding to use the Vari-slo I noticed the column had a clear spot and set screw marks where the adapter mounts and so it appears that it was probably fitted with one originally. My first time using this adapter and wow it is a pleasure first super easy to use and second no noise difference at different speeds in fact quiet, period except a small amount of normal machine sound. I put a 1-1/8” bit on it and drilled into oak with no slippage which from other reading had come to expect
