Found this posted on Ebay in Northern Wisconsin in June 2023 about 2 hours from my home. The owner had purchased a country home and pole barn with acreage and this was left in the barn as scrap. Probably too heavy for PO to move. It was sinking into the sand floor and was in poor cosmetic shape but most of the parts were there. No other history on the machine was known. I got it home, and stripped it down, used bondo and spot putty to smooth out the rough castings and painted it a dark machine gray which corresponds to some hidden areas where original paint color still existed. Replaced the motor bearings, had the knives sharpened, added a vintage magnetic starter with new start/stop station and removed the rust from the tables and fence. The only part that was missing was the rabbeting ledge but that was found here on the OWWM want ads. Forum member Will Tracey, Rochester NY., answered my "Parts Wanted" ad and said he had an Oliver 144 rabbeting ledge he was willing to part with. Many thanks to Will for answering my ad so I could complete this restoration.
This jointer runs exceptionally smooth and is a pleasure to use. A nickel standing on edge on the tables will not fall over while running.
