Purchased sight unseen through a Facebook Marketplace ad from Mennonite man, and arranged for him to deliver it to me on a trailer. Scrambled to find someone with a piece of equipment to unload when the machine was set to arrive. Ended up hiring a skidsteer operator (also via FB Marketplace) to meet and unload. Skidsteer owner and operator arrive and unload and a few minutes later the seller and the machine arrive. So far so good. Machine is wrapped nicely in thick poly, strapped down tightly (through gaps underneath the tables as to not affect their settings), with a 3x3 block lag bolted on each end to make ease for forks. Still, amazingly, the skidsteer operator seems to have issues lining up his forks to get under it.. He now needs instruction, and the seller jumps in so as to protect his trailer (and his machine he hasn't sold yet). He finally guides the operator underneath and gets him to take the weight and lift a couple inches. Forks level, machine in the air, the operator backs up to clear the trailer without issue. Then he is instructed to slowly lower the machine to the ground (it is about 30" off the ground). The operator starts to lower, but much too fast.. as he lowers too quickly he also fails to compensate for the downward effect on the tilt of the forks.. everyone starts yelling and hollering and the machine starts sliding down the forks, half in line with the ground and half in line with the seller's trailer. Miraculously, the operator manages to suddenly find the tilt function and tilts back quickly, just in the nick of time to prevent disaster. The real crisis was luckily avoided, although not without injury. During the tilt back 'save', the machine's guard which sticks out in front was struck against the top of the fork carriage, and suffered some bends and a crack in the cast. Hopefully it can be repaired to working order.
