Comments:
The press was originally a #30R racheting arbor press. Was purchased at HGR Surplus around 2012. It had fallen over at HGR and the racheting mechanism was broken into many pieces. The press was on the stand and I made an offer for all, based on me just wanting just the stand, and HGR accepted. I had a Greenerd #3 at home that did not have a stand. The stand, press frame, and ram were undamaged. I set up an ebay search and it ran several years until it located a 3-ton press that had been hacked up and modified for a specific purpose and it was receiving no attention on ebay. Made a lowball BIN offer and seller accepted. While the press was useless in its condition, the part I needed, the pinion, was intact. So I transplanted the pinion and completed turning the #30R into a #30. I sold off my Greenerd #3 as the Greenerd #30 had 5 additional inches of daylight capacity vs the #3. The #30 press was made specifically for working on electric motors.
