This unit is one of the 14-inch saw variations I have been seeking for a dozen years. I could not pass it up because of its vintage, because of some of its somewhat unusual features, and because it is the correct companion piece to my #768 bandsaw. I see few cast-iron belt guards, and it has a full set of decals in VERY good condition, including one I have seen on no other machine. I will not particularly be repainting it, just the lower sections of the stand. It came with an old G.E. motor, and the old-style of casters with brackets to hold a pipe/lever for moving. One bracket was placed directly over the Delta decal on the upper table of the stand, but luckily it did minimal damage. The stand also has its 891 decal on the lower shelf. The right foot of the saw has a patent decal, and in the center of the saws back, just above the top of the belt guard, is a Delta Manufacturing decal, the unusual one mentioned above. I installed the kick-down casters and the dust chute, will be adding a push-button switch, and will get the light properly fitted with a metal receptacle. I have a #900 repulsion-induction motor with its decal also, rated 1/3 HP, which was standard issue for this saw when it was new. If I decide it is underpowered, I have a 1/2 HP which will certainly do the job. The serial number is 1-5302, which leads me to speculate that it may be among the first of the so-called improved saws to be manufactured in 1937. As I configure the saw the way I want it to be, I will update the photos. It arrived in good running condition, and this saw was well worth the wait for me. Extra pics are in the Yahoo groups photo section under the title DeltaStuff.
