I don’t know the actual year built but a tag on the side reads “SPRINGFIELD ORDNANCE DISTRICT, WAR dept. CONTRACT NO. W-ORD 2529 SERIAL NO. SE17.” I’m guessing that puts it some time around WWII. See pics for tag, I have not restored it - works great and runout is only 0.001. I made a lamp from a stainless steel coffee mug and made a mount for it from scraps by copying the design of the original 882. Other than that (and the Sears motor), its an unrestored original and I plan to keep it that way.
