This 1/2" hand drill was made for Sears Craftsman by the American Floor Surfacing Machine Co. who primarily made floor sanders but did make some power tools for Sears. On the web site you will find circular saws and sanders. However, this is the first drill I’ve seen from this company. A friend had it and allowed me to take pictures of it and use it. Powerful compact drill with a 1/2" pipe thread auxiliary handle, plus a 2 position “D” handle on the back. There is a hole in the handle the perfect size to put a round #2 Philips screw driver in to loosen the screw and change the position of the handle. The chuck is a very high-quality keyless chuck with a 5/8” x 16 thread mount with the Craftsman name but probably made by Jacobs. The drill also came with its original case with a removable tray on top and more storage below the tray. Guessing this is a 50s-60s drill. The tag was so battered I didn't feel that it deserved a picture. The serial number is unreadable. However, the tag says, "Industrial Rated. 100% ball and needle bearings." It also came with 4 pages of “dirty” paper which was scanned, cleaned up, and placed in the library of manuals on this site.
