Comments:
Picked this up in Tobaccoville NC on September 3rd, 2023. entire machine is intact, but missing blade guards, and lower guide blocks. Machines is unrestored, but the wheels turn freely and the Babbitt bearings have oil in the cups. According to the seller, this saw spent its early years at the Nissen Wagon Works in Forsythe County North Carolina, and spent it's entire life in that regional area. It looks to be well maintained and doesn't seemed to have ever been stored outside. It has an older 2hp 3 Phase motor that was retrofitted in the late 1920's. Motor runs great! Looking forward to restoring and using in my upcoming new shop. If anyone has a good working knowledge of the time period when this saw may have been built, let me know. I'm only estimating sometime in the 1890's because Fay merged with Egan in 1893. If you want more pictures of specfic areas, please reach out. I'm happy to help

UPDATE: Full restoration complete, April 4 2024. Completely disassembled, stripped, sanded, polished, painted, serviced, cleaned and reassembled. Fabricated front and rear blade guards. Added a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to run the 3 Phase motor off of single phase 220v. Installed an 18 foot by 1 inch Lenox Woodmaster carbide resaw blade, and now the saw runs like a brand new saw. Babbitt bearing were in serviceable condition. BIG THANKS TO KEITH RUCKER AND HIS SERIES ON THE THE DIRESTA 48 JA. FAY BANDSAW. it was essentiaslly a step by step for my restoration.
