I picked up this old saw for just $15.00 at a local tool auction. It was freely moving and worked just fine. Like all my tools, I promptly took it apart for a full refurb. The main body was sandblasted, primed and painted in the engine enamel gray I use. I ran out of gray on the stamped steel bracket, so I took a little side road and painted it gold (Hey, it was the best choice in my paint cabinet at the time!) I found a plastic cap at the hardware store to replace the one that was missing. I left the protractor bare aluminum as I think it looked better, I also replaced the acorn nut on the top arm with a chrome plated nut & washer.
Update: 8-20-06 -> I got around to making a stand for it this weekend, nice to have it useable. I still have to edge band the top and build a "box with a drawer" that will fit in the space under the motor shelf area and then I can paint the base gray.
I bought some saw blades on the website posted below, they have a great deal on some neat reversing teeth blades. $19.95 shipped for 12 blades in size numbers 1-3-5-7-9-12
So you get a total of 72 blades. They cut pretty I think and the price is right!
