My brother picked this guy up for me at auction in Los Angeles this winter. Accoring to Rich at Eagle it was originally sold to Holmes Junior Highschool on 12/31/65 for $927.68. Rich told me when Oliver stopped making this model in the early 90's that it was selling for $8000.00.
I replaced both of the motor bearings with some great online help from the discussion forum. It runs like a dream, direct drive is difintely the way to go.
I have been happy with my 80's vintage model 60 Powermatic which I still think is a nice jointer and I actually preferred it's fence. The biggest difference that I found between the 2 machines was that the Powermatic had much more vibration and it was louder.
