The machine was inherited from my father of 88-years. He was mechanical engineer and avid woodworker know as "Mr. Fix-it!. In the early 80's he stumbled across a myrtlewood woodworking business closing and purchased the bandsaw for resawing lumber/turning blanks. The saw was barely functional. The wheels were re-vulcanized, new bearings installed, and balanced in Eugene, OR. The complete machine was disassembled, sandblasted, new bearings, and painted. The project then set unfinished for almost 40 years. It was later discovered that the original motor was not serviceable. So I replaced the motor with a modern WEG 5HP 220 Volt 3-phase invertor duty motor. It is powered by an Invertek Optidrive frequency invertor. Now it can operate on 220 Volt single phase and has variable speed thru a potentiometer. Soon to be resawing myrtlewood slabs of wood harvested from a family farm in Myrtle Point, OR in the early 80's.
