My brother managed a screen printing operation back in the mid 1980's and needed to get rid of this drill press with the complaint that the bearings were shot. I bought it for very little and once out of the damp cold basement in the commercial building the bearings quieted down and it remains in daily service. I am a woodworker so this does not get the heavy use that it would in a metal working shop. This was originally used to drill component holes in circuit broads that the silk screen process produced. Yes, very crude technology back then and not nearly the precision needed on modern circuit boards.
I removed the switch from the motor and installed a Craftsman switch robbed off another piece of equipment. It is much handier on the right side and no reaching across the spinning chuck and bit to turn it off. This is all original paint and motor. I did add a red beam center locator that helps line things up. No restoration is planned as this press works perfectly even though it began service nearly 60 years ago. This is a King Seely press and once of the great products they produced for Sears.

Table in great shape, only a few minor hits from a drill. Light surface rust from its first life in a silk screen operation in a damp basement of a commercial building.

This lives in my woodworking shop so I have a shop built table to slide over the original with more surface area and ability to clamp work as needed.
