Foraging around fleamarkets and auctions I am amazed at the amount of American made wood work machinery one comes across. Seen on the auction floor of Dales Brothers, Pinetown South Africa is this "unusual make" SPRUNGER bandsaw. Made in Ligonier Indiana it is the first of this particular make I have come across. A little neglected maintenance wise, it sold for Rand 600 which at today's exchange rate equates to roughly $100 US. I note that from the maker's notes, that the crackle finish was a distinctive characteristic of these machines. The finish on the one I saw (silver crackle) was in a remarkably good state.
