I purchased this at an auction in Canandagua, NY in about 1993 and have used it a lot since I re-poured the bearings. The blade guard retraction mechanism is an after market add-on - I have seen the same one on a Crescent jointer. I made a pattern and had the bladeguard poured out of aircraft aluminum, since it was missing when I bought it. The fence had two handles where the two holes are located. I am not sure that they were original, since they were attached with wooden dowel. They were stolen at the auction when my back was turned. I had the journal turned smooth and re-poured the babbit. These bearings are massive. The handwheel on the infeed table is not original, but I think the one on the outfeed table is. One nice feature is it has small handles that unlock the table carriage so they can be slid away from the cutterhead. Makes it easier to work on. Smooth running machine, but I think the two cutter head makes for a little more work - as you can see, I have run a good amount of wood across it!
