Have used this motor as a phase converter since 1985 can start up to a 25 hp motor the largest I have is 20 hp I use a 1 hp starting motor to get it up to speed then turn on the electric to it it is a three phase motor that once up to speed will run on 240 volts single phase and produce the third leg of the three phase off it’s winding
I run my hole shop off it it has never had a problem and has never caused any problem with any machine motor or switch
It does have a wild phase that must be kept off the starter magnet or it will chatter the contacts but move it off the magnet and that will fix it
