On 5/27/1896, the machine was ordered from Sager-Spuck Supply in Albany NY by NYSDH, New York State Dept of Health, Wadsworth Center for Labs & Research. It was delivered on July 17th. Machine was purchased from them in 2015. The machine was purchased with a threaded spindle, taper attachment, New Era Metric/Imperial direct-read dials, Metric transposing gears, two speed 1hp-1/2hp motor, lever collet closer (which was sold), on a 4-1/2 foot bed. Buying from the original owner, it is nice to get the "folio" of original paperwork etc for the purchase of the machine, including order cards, hand written notes, and even a mechanical drawing of the machine layout and shop floor space req'd etc.
There was no detectable wear on the hardened bed, and not much wear anywhere else on the machine. BUT some of the original fits of the machine were not great. One of the four contact surfaces of the V-ways under the saddle was not in contact with the bed! Only three of the four surfaces were actually in contact. A very experienced and talented machine restorer scraped the the saddle into proper fit with the bed, and scraped the crossfeed for fit and square with the bed. The only work that needed to be done to the bed was scraping underneath the rear way at the very end of the bed, which was never fitted properly for the rear saddle gib. The way is not worn at all. He then scraped the compound rest for fit, and flaked all surfaces for oil retention.
I found a Kennedy drawer "Add-on" insert to replace the metal plate cover for the coolant pump. I believe the part number from Kennedy is DR265 or DR265X. VERY useful upgrade for this kind of storage, filling and maximizing the open space almost perfectly.

Comments: Machine home, in place. I keep the red shop towel oiled and laid on the taper attachment until I want to use it.

Comments: Hand-written notes from original owner. I have the original order card from SB and Sager-Spuck Supply. I want to find a price list to know how much the taper attachment and lever collet closer added to the bill.

Comments: Kennedy "Add-On" drawers fit perfectly in the stand for the long bed. Also shown is the switch for the coolant pump, which was the only part kept by the original owner.
