This is a Craftsman drill press made by the Atlas Press co. ( model 73) that was restored by OWWM member dblstar. It originally it had a huge floor model base that he removed and replaced with a bench top base from a 101.03682 model. The motor is a 1/3hp (Sears) Commander Orange band that was re-painted in Rustoleum Coastal gray and hammered gray. It is still my favorite press in my collection.
Don't know much about its history other than by design it appears to be an early design due to the way the stop rod is attached to the spindle. This one is screwed to the spindle instead of the later models that have a collar that wrapped around it.
