Picked up off C-list in pretty good shape, just a lot of surface rust, ran good when acquired but was covered in grease and oil. looks to be all original as built, still has the original oil tag serial number plate and had a patent label over some good paint on the opposite side. I replaced the spindle bearings as a precaution, the motor bearings were still good so they were re-used. The motor is an original Westinghouse 1/3hp that from doing research here appears to have been what they used during the war. It had black paint under the capacitor mount and inside the end caps and in the switch. It then appears to have been then painted over with the Delta gray which was mostly gone.
I used Rustoleum Charcoal gray on the press as its very close to the original color. I decided to go with gloss black and a machinery gray for the motor and pulleys ( which originally had the dark gray on them ). I wanted a little contrast on the unit. This machine was in very nice condition when found considering its age, It appears to have been used lightly during its life. There is a metal build date tag screwed to the underside of the table that reads 8-25-43 which is in line with the serial number.
