This jointer is part of a combo unit bought by my father in 1964 in Johannesburg and which I inherited. Separate pictures of the combo unit have been posted. The saw component of the combo unit was made in Pittsburgh USA whilst the jointer was made in Guelph Ontario Canada. A parts list I have indicates the Model No. 4800 as being a Beaver model but there is no indication or badge to this effect mounted on the jointer. I am intrigued by the 1/2 inch hole on the side of the outfeed table. It is tapped 13 tpi UNC. Can anyone throw any light as to what its purpose was. The jointer is in pristine condition although it is over 40 years old and has been to Australia and back as well!
Mystery hole solved ...thanks to Keith Bohn. see
