This Barnes drill was in a paper mill in Campbellford Ontario. It had a V-belt drive which I replaced with a fixed and idler pulley for lineshaft configuration. It is in good shape and everything works as it should, although the main bevel gear, which has already been replaced with a wider bronze gear of the same pitch, is worn. It deserves a restoration down the line. For the moment it is functional and has a foot pedal shifter as was originally fitted.
The drill has four step pulley speeds and a planetary gearset inside the upper cone pulley for a total of 8 spindle speeds, and three power-feed speeds. The power feed is engaged by a lever just right of the spindle by the handwheel.
