I purchased this mill during 2021. Based on data received from Wells-Index, the machine was shipped on December 29, 1954 to Tornquist Machinery Company in Los Angeles, CA.I paid $500 for the machine including a set of B&S #9 collets, the DRO pictured and the table power feed, also pictured, which is obviously not original. The first picture is the machine as I purchased it. I'm in the process of a complete restoration. The intermediate pulley cracked in the process of removing the shaft and I turned a new pulley from a billet of 6061 aluminum. I also replace the 3/4 horsepower motor with a two horsepower motor. This is my second Wells-Index mill. Earlier I had a 645 which I sold due to space constraints. The model 40 fits my needs and has a smaller footprint.
