Just picked up this cute little 18" A.F. Prentice & Co. drill press.
I figure it was built between 1871 to 1874.
A.F. Prentice & Co. started in 1870.
The sellers tag says Kelly, Howell & Ludwig, Philadelphia, PA.
I found them from at least 1869 to 1874 under that name.
After 1874 it was Kelly & Ludwig.
I believe this was the Prentice No.4 drill.
The 1876 catalog shows a redesigned No.4 drill.
Notice the counterweight to keep the spindle from dropping out.
