Comments:
I acquired this handsome saw at an estate sale/auction 04/08/2006. A friendly gentleman who knew the deceased quite well told me the saw was most likely purchased new by the decedent's father. They lived in Peoria, IL in the 1930s and '40s.
Hence, I may be the 3rd owner and the saw has a new home pretty close to where it's always been. The previous owner had a woodwork-shop in his basement so the saw was never in the cold/humid/crummy Illinois garage environment that doesn't favor arn machines. And now it is in my basement too, alongside a few other items that came out of Melwahkee before 1950.
The "891" decal is in very good condition on the base. No serial number tag. Saw came with the original fence and rails and the cool 882 lamp. Also included in the lot were 7 new/nearly new blades. Motor is a Leland 3/4 hp R/I sleeve bearing motor. It also has more than half of the original patents/dates decal remaining which shows the last patent as 1935.

Gory details: Only one other person was interested enough to bid and it was "sold!" Thanks to Joe Potter for giving me a number of good insights regarding the likely manufacture date of this fine old saw and other features.
The paint and most parts are still in very good to excellent condition. Gotta love that badge!
