This unit is now disassembled and dispersed, but I submit the photo because this is a machine which does not turn up often, in my experience. It was called a deburring machine early in its production, as well as a belt grinder and polisher. Components could be purchased individually, to customize a unit according to the purpose to which the buyer put it. The idler unit came left- or right-handed. For vertical use, a special bracket was offered to hold the idler; with these parts, 8 different configurations could be made. Rockwell offered several different machines factory-made. Accessories offered by the company included guards, a platen for horizontal use, adjustable tool rests, and a dust and chip chute. The arbor-head for this type of machine is the first long-shaft unit that I am aware of for Delta; the earlier #1282 had the same shaft as the 7-inch Delta grinders. The old-style Delta stand is unique, no other has its unusual, irregular shape. I did not need this machine particularly, but did wish to replace my old #1282 arbor-head which was being dedicated to another project. This one is longer-shafted, so perhaps more desirable for the function to which I will put it. The fixtures sold on eBay. The motor in the photo is a Dayton 1 HP, soon to be replaced by an old repulsion-induction Delta unit, leaving me with a stable work platform for wire or felt wheeling and free-hand grinding.....deburring. There is plenty of room for another grinder if I decide to run one on the other end of the table. I will remove the motor cover sections to display the next motor, not shroud it. The stand will have kick-down casters, same as my other open stands.
