I acquired this machine from an estate sale locally here on Long Island, NY. The former owner was an industrial arts teacher.
The first photos were as found. Both pulleys were bent out of shape, the main shaft was bent and the left-hand threaded hold that holds the disc-bolt was badly stripped. Someone had obviously replaced bearings, but they were the wrong size as they spun in the castings.
I bead blasted and powder coated all castings and metal parts. Replaced all bearings with either sealed or shielded bearings. I polished everything else, including engine-turning the disc-table and stop-table. Tried nickel plating a few parts - I have practice to do - so re-polished them.
I rebuilt the motor - including repairing a winding and the start mechanism and replacing the capacitor, then painted the cast end-caps with crinkle-paint and replaced motor bearings.
Finally, I taught myself how to recreate the Walker Turner badge. I used my own custom serial number, JPK-2022, since, well, Walker-Turner tended to use the same serial numbers on a lot of machines anyway.
I welcome any feedback - or any tips on nickel-plating :)
