I was surfing Marketplace, and bam! Here is this surface planer. $200. I was like "Wha?" I messaged and sure enough it was un-sold and she wanted to sell. I had the two bills and off I went with the Wifes Blessing. I got to her home and her friend was there, as well as her son. She had started a beginners wood working course at the Community College here and wanted something to take her mind off her job. She was a MEDIVAC Nurse: four days on and three days off, 24/7, 365. She was real up front and told me this particular piece of woodworking equipment scared the stuffings out of her. I paid her what she paid for it, and we loaded it into my truck and home I went.
Its dirty, the bed is rusty, there is a small "chip" in the blades on the left side about one inch in from the edge. She plugged it in at her garage and it still ran at hime and man, do the shavngs just fly!! I soaked everything in WD-40, checked the crankcase oil. the engagement handle was loose and missing the detent ball and spring. Hardware store items! I once again came here and printed off all the Docs for the machine. This thing runs like a champ!
I am goint to build a lower stand for the machine as I want the unit to feed out material at the same height as my floor saw. planning ahead for L*O*N*G stock!
