While doing all the Honey-Do's, I hit a snag in the flow of things. I was planning ahead and knew that the handheld saber saw, also a vintage piece, would be great, but possibly inadequate for the tasks, and a band saw would be easier.
Back to the local CL listings. It took about two weeks for this unit to pop up. I was not worried, as the projects were rearranged some. I went to the PO home and looked at the unit. It was almost like new on the inside, and he repainted the outside a very close match to the factory gray, and it was on a HFT universal tool stand and it just fit the top. Ran smooth and he gave all of his 80" blades with the unit. I offered him a C-note, and he took it--He wanted twice that on CL. He had just bought a replacement 14" Jet and had finally got it set up. We loaded it into my truck and home I went. It has done all the Honey-Do's and then some and I can't ask for more. I need a new starter for the motor or just buy new. He was up front and told me every once in a while, it won't start and you have to give the belt a little push... Yup sure does! At my young-old age some mornings I need a little push to get started!! LOL!
I went into the Bay and the Zon and ordered upgraded ball bearing guides and the like. I did run into an issue with screws: the factory sheets showed socket head cap and set screws. I made a trip to the hardware store, bought what I needed. Here on the site I found a link in the forum at OWWM for the aluminum blade guard, and made a new one, from a closely mtched scrap of aluminum I had in the shop. the original was a little worse for wear.
I'll get more pix soon.
