I bought this mortiser in February from a classified ad on this website. The seller was Jim Schroeger in Travers City, Michigan. Last week I took a little drive to Travers City (from Lyndhurst Ontario, about 2200 kms. round trip) to pick it up. Jim remembers the machine being in his grandfather's shop in Marquette Michigan, when he was a boy. Some time after his grandfather passed away in the 1970s, Jim happened to drive past the property and recognized the mortiser sitting outside. If Jim hadn't found it at the right time, its fate may have been sad. Since then it has followed Jim from one shop to another but was never used. It is now home in my shop where it will be used and admired with all my other mortisers. There is nothing wrong with it that a little oil and steel wool won't fix. At some point it might get a new paintjob, but that is still in question.
