I just got this saw home. I bought it from a man on long island for $200 and I cant be happier. I just love how these walker turners look. Next weekend the resto begins
As I got home and was unloading the saw my father called. He said he remembered me complaining about my current wood lathe and how I was looking for an old cast iron piece
He said I picked up this lathe today at the auction, some company out of Plainfield NJ. Coincidence?
EDIT - this entry was updated on 12/13/12 to clean up some of the listed specifications. The saw is belt drive, so the model number is TA1180B. The orange
resto update
Finished, this was my first complete owwm resto.
This saw was completely dissembled, scrubbed, blasted then painted. Then it was reassembled with new arbor bearings. I still have some adjustments to make lining up the miter slots and I will be installing a more powerful motor.
I am very pleased with how it turned out
p.s. you can see that WT lathe my father found for me in the background
EDIT - this entry was updated on 12/13/12 to update some of the above specifications. This saw is belt drive, so the model number would be TA-1180B. The manufacturer's badge on the front of the saw has an orange background, which was used in the earlier parts of the 1940's, so the saw's date of manufacture is probably between 1940 and 1944. The orginal date of entry for this post was 9/29/2006. (Nice restoration, Bob!) Admin:DG
