I purchased this machine from a fellow OWWM member up near Chicago in 2020. The jointer overall was in really good shape with no broken castings. The jointer of course was missing a few knobs and had some mismatched hardware. I was able to get the correct hardware and knobs sourced online. The motor was originally a 1 hp 3 phase motor. I replaced it with a single phase 1 hp Baldor motor. The starter that came with the jointer was rewired and made to work with the new motor. The jointer had 7 layers of paint on a lot of the castings (see pics). Once removed I sprayed the jointer with an automotive lacquer paint from the auto parts stores in Ford dark shadow gray color. The paint has a metallic to it but from a distance looks like it could be a factory color. I made a mobile base out of plywood to move the jointer around. I attempted to accent the base with the lines of the jointer. I think it came out really well.

All finished and painted with Ford dark shadow gray spray paint. Mobile base made from plywood and accented to match the look of the jointer.

The day I brought it home. While it didn't look bad. There was multiple layers of paint and I did not like the sheet metal for the dust collection.

7...7 layers of paint needed to be removed from most of the pieces.
