Comments:
This Cameron Model 164 7-D Drill Press was purchased in January 2022 from a Facebook Marketplace listing. The Drill Press was missing a chuck, covered in oil/dirt and showed signs of being well used. The 2 speed motor only ran on the high speed setting & emitted some smoke (due to oil inside the motor) when energized. The Drill Press was purchased at a very reasonable (low) price. The Drill Press was completely dismantled, cleaned, paint stripped, polished and repainted. A new Single Speed Motor Switch, Power Cord, V-Belt, a #0 Jacobs Chuck (an American made Jacobs Chuck) and Hand Lever Ball Ends were installed. A used Dremel Motor Speed Controller was purchased to run the motor at various speeds. Treat Enterprises owns the Cameron Drill Press Company and continues to stock parts for the older machines. Steven Treat was my contact at Cameron Drill Press. He provided valuable information during the rebuild process and was an excellent technical resource.
