This is old original 7-inch Delta pedestal grinder. When purchased, it had an awful appearance-- one of those institutional green colors with some canary yellow and light blue. It had been well-used, but was complete and in running condition, so it came home with me and got stripped, the usual treatment. A lot of wire brushing and chemicals, two coats of anti-rust primer and two coats of poly machine enamel later, and I had something worth beholding. I never finished painting the right water pot, though I expect to include it in my projects for this summer. I added the treated lumber under the pedestal in large part because the basement in my previous residence could flood a dozen times some years. The emblem plate and switch plate were abraded in places, but the important portions are still clearly legible. I have used the machine for more than ten years, and am still pleased with its performance and appearance, though the latter has suffered a bit. These machines were first brought out in 1936 I believe. There is a number stamped into the emblem, but I have never been able to correlate it to valid information, so I approximate its manufacture as 1940 until I know better.
