Comments:
This scroll saw requires a few more restoration steps, a stand and pulley guard.

Bought this off the internet, January 2022.

The oil sump contained mostly a thick paste, a mixture of oil and wood dust, gathered there over a lifetime. The dust seems to have entered in there through small openings in the lower blade clamp, at the top of the vertical reciprocating shaft, which is in fact a hollow tube. In the restoration I cleaned out all of this paste and plugged up the tube with a cork. I want to use the saw for light sheet metal cutting and if metal dust were to enter the sump that would of course be bad news.

I turned the pulleys out of nylon round bar which seems to be working well. A stepped pulley on the motor for speed control.

The brass bushes are still usable but will be replaced later.

The air blower tube is on my list for replacing.
