This saw seems to have been supplied in South Africa (maybe also elsewhere) without a base (or blade guard). This one is on a custom made base.

I inherited this saw from the person who bought it in 1968/9 from Rockwell in Port Elizabeth South Africa, shortly after a flood which damaged much of the warehouse inventory.
