Unfortunately, I ran across this posted on an auction website only after the auction closed on August 16, 2021. Berkeley Mills, a custom furniture and cabinet manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay area was upgrading their machinery and no longer needed this sander. There was significant interest in this sander (29 bids) with a hammer price of $875. Unfortunately the Serial Number located on the upper right hand corner of the date plate (see photo) was obscured by grease. Two points of interest:
1. The dust port located at about the 1 o'clock position of the dust shroud that is present on Pioneer Dustless Serial Numbers 30, 89, 190 and 201 is not present on this unit so this may have been a later unit.
2. The GE Induction 1/2 HP, 3 phase motor on this sander has slots around the perimeter of the center section of the motor that vaguely resemble the slots shown in the 1916 ads Pioneer placed in American Machinist (see Images directory).
