I picked this Yates American Surfacer off E-Bay when the winning bidder with drew his winning bid.It came out of a school in Cleveland,Ohio and is in prefect working condition. The machine came with its dust hood and an extra set of knives. It is a direct
drive motor,5 h.p.,220/440 volts,3 phase,3600 rpm's,feed speed from 18 to 55 FPM.Will surface stock up to 18" wide and from 1/8" to 6" thick.The cutter head has three knives,
set at 30 degrees with a cutting circle of 3 1/2".The planer weighs in at 1000 lbs.The guy that I bought the planer from works at the school and was given the planer plus a Lathe,24" delta band saw and table saw.He told me that they threw away a Yates American
lathe and some other machines (Yes,threw away in the dumpster)before he stepped in and got the other machines. It makes you wonder how many times this happens when a school or our goverment or some big company just scraps OWWM's because nobody thinks that they are worth anything.
