Advertised on FB Marketplace, I purchased this DP in Cottonwood AZ from a daughter in-in-law of prior owner, George L Dodge Jr. When disassembling I found that three of the castings had either his name or initials stamped on them, with the head casting also being stamped with the date of 1939. I contacted the seller when I found the name stamped on the castings and she confirmed it was the name of her father-in-law who she believed was living in California at the time. I suspect he likely built or assembled this DP. Picture 4 shows the cap noted to the main casting with a threaded screw and handle which is used to adjust belt tension by raising the head. It is held in place by six cheese head bolts which can only be attached in one way, further indicating a home-made press. All bearings are bronze bushings with the exception of a ball thrust bearing at the base of the quill. Keyless chuck of unknown make and age. I was unable to detach the post from the rather crudely cast base and suspect it may be permanently attached. Delta 3/4 HP Repulsion Induction Motor was power source when purchased.
I have reviewed all the 10” DP thumbnails on this site and was unable to find anything similar. An inquiry on this forum resulted in no identification.
