This vise spent its working life in a logging camp in Canada. I bought it from a private individual in Woodinville, Washington. I made a new handle and repaired the drive mechanism inside. It had been missing a cast iron lug feature whose purpose was to limit backlash. Someone cut that off, perhaps thinking, "What a silly thing - there's no reason for it!" The result was when you tried to open the vise nothing much happened. It is a combination vise but I don't own the pipe jaws. The vise weighs 165 pounds and has jaws 6" wide. I believe this is the largest bench vise Record ever made.
