Thanks to Mike Floyd, this machine was purchased in May 2021, via a WTB ad I placed in OWWM, from his substantial collection of vintage machinery. It was in need of bearings, an adjustment/cleaning to the centrifugal switch, and just some sanding, elbow grease, and paint. I had a WWII era BG40 pedestal I had sourced a few months earlier, and that pedestal and this lovely grinder are just now getting acquainted. Still working to get the final switches wired together, but otherwise the unit is ready to be used. Josh Pauling of Daddy's Workshop of the Carolinas agreed to meet me at Mike's house the day I picked up the grinder. It was Josh's very informative "Triple Duty Grinder Restoration" videos on YouTube that gave me the inspiration and confidence that I could handle a restoration of this magnitude, and Josh gets all the credit for this very striking two tone paint scheme. These two colors are simply "Dark Machine Grey" and "Carbon Mist" Rustoleum products that are readily available at homer's. Hopefully I'll get this 1947 unit, and Josh's 1953 unit, in the same workshop and Josh will no doubt make a nice video comparing the differences between these two years (more changes than you might imagine, including the location of the bearings, the brass end bell nuts, and stamped Patent/Design Patent numbers on underside of the twin lights.
