Comments:
I bought this post drill at a swap meet around 1980. I went back to the swap meet five years later and bought the Emerson 1/4 hp electric motor and the Arbour cast-iron grinder. I now have the Post drill in my garden shed and I am running it on solar panel power using a 1500 W power inverter with a 12 V deep cycle marine battery. I have been using this post drill with the hand crank for the last quarter century and decided to finally power it with the Emerson electric motor. The post drill was probably run through a line shaft using steam power. This is essentially a 6 inch drill like the one on the left, which is my champion blower and forge company post drill but as you can see it is larger in size. I always thought that I would power it someday. Well, someday turned out to be May 8, 2021.
