Part 2

This Driver Line saw was my fathers. I used it for years and when I upgraded, I oiled it up well and stored it in a shed for about 40 years. For some unknown reason, last year I was motivated to restore the old saw.

Looking through the catalogs posted here on VM, I can date the saw between 1935 and 1936. This saw was not in the 1934 catalog and was revised in the 1937 catalog. The T1 base with a wood top and shelf was in the Walker Turner catalogs for years before 1935 but in 1937 the base was changed to model T5 with a steel top and shelf.

Under the wood facing on the rip fence, the original paint was pristine. I had Sherwin Williams computer match the color. The formula is posted on the post with the saw before restoration. The water slide decals were reproduced from some photos that were posted on this site.

Everything except the wood tops on the stand, wood fences and power switch are original. The switch is a Shop Fox switch purchased from Grizzly Industrial. The switch is interesting because contact is made via a relay. The switch operates similar to a magnetic starter, if the power is disconnected, the relay drops out and reverts to the off state.

I have another post on this site featuring photos for the saw before the restoration.
