The machine came out of a long since closed vocational school in Toivakka near Jyväskylä in Finland. The new owner brought it to Luopajärvi in Jalasjärvi where he kept it in an outbuilding for a few years but never really used it. Then he sold it to me in 2015.
The saw is obviously designed to be made in both right hand and left hand versions using mostly the same parts.
There have been many modifications made to it over the years:
Long ago all the bearing housings were skillfully sleeved to take a different size of spherical ball bearings. At some point the originally line shaft driven saw was very crudely converted to become motor driven and the upper blade guide was also replaced.
After I bought the saw I made a proper motor conversion and made modern guards to bring it up the safety standards that are required by law in a professional environment in Finland. I also made new blade guides for it and a new fence and a mitre gauge. The conversion was designed to be as uninvasive as possible and all original parts no longer in use are stored for the future.
