Comments:
Up until about 3 weeks prior to me coming into procession of this machine, it was in use in a small factory in Tennessee that manufactures plastic bags. Exactly what they were using it for, I don't know, but when a new foreman saw the machine in use, he popped a cork and demanded that it "disappear" immediately due to safety considerations. I purchased it from the factory worker that removed it.

This is a rebadged Walker Turner DP 101. It appears in the 1931 and 1932 Sears catalogs as part of the Walker Turner Driver Line offerings. In 1933, it appears as a Companion badged machine as Sears started working in their store brands.

Prior to disassembly, I reversed the direction of the motor (Century 1/4hp) so that the belt could be routed properly. The thing runs like a dream. I was surprised to find that the head of the machine is cast from a lightweight, non-metallic material. I suspect it's zamak as it has the same appearance as the pulleys. In the interest of not cracking that, I won't be replacing the bronze bushings. I'll post more photos once the refurb is complete.

Comments: I suspect the belt has been in a figure 8 the entire life of this machine. It took ten minutes to reverse the motor.
