I purchased this rough but complete machine from another collector. I'm basing the 1947 date off of the alpha/numeric stamping on the data plate. The last time I see this grinder appear in the catalogs that I have access to is the 1945 big book. The next time I see bench grinders offered is in the 48 tool catalog with the "new" 115.6965. If this machine was manufactured in 47, it would be one of the last hoorahs for this model. My plan is to refurbish it with a "distressed" look rather than going for a like-new appearance. I'll attempt to come close to the patina of its big brother 1/2hp model that I own. This machine, as it is now, runs flawlessly.
