I acquired this jointer from Ranken Technical College in St Louis in 2006 while I was teaching there. I used this jointer while teaching woodworking classes. As you can see it does not have a guard on it which is why it was replaced, but it ran smooth and solid. It has Babbitt bearings and was driven by a 1 1/2 HP 3 phase motor that was mounted separately on the floor near by. It was not the original motor. Not sure how long Ranken had it. It may have been one of their original machines to the shop as decades earlier they had a very robust woodworking and cabinetmaking program. Rumor had it that at one time the shop was full of these large heavy woodworking machines and ran off a line drive belt system. There were old remains of the line drive still mounted to the ceiling. This jointer and an old drill press were all that remained when I was there. It is now in my shop, though I do not use it.
