05 March 2006:
So I'm in the basement; finally painting the cabinet stand for my Craftsman/Atlas drill press. My wife pops in and says she saw a rusty old machine at the neighbor's curb, while bike riding with the younger daughter. She couldn't ID it. I rode over in the car and rescued this machine.
I'm guessing it is 1940s or 1950s, but not sure. I couldn't find any tag until I saw the corners under the fence arm. I removed the fence arm and scrubbed it with a tooth brush and mineral spirits, along with the motor label. The contact wheel looks worn and the upper guard doesn't appear to be original.

Style: CN2 S/N: 536E 2"x48" belt sander-grinder
Hoover motor with grease fittings at each end, 1/2HP, 1725RPM, J56 frame.
This is a likely candidate for the electrified water bath, when the weather gets warmer.
06 October 2006 Update: I no longer have this machine, it was donated to ArnFest06 raffle.
