Acquired this from an estate sale in Nahant, MA. The place was a mansion complete with a machine shop, dark room, electrical lab, and recording studio. Loaded into the back of a truck with a small fork lift. Lots of PO mods on this machine including the lever on the gearbox and a really clever table tilt mechanism.
This also has a tag for plancor 1266, colair, which i've not been able to trace to a particular company. Plancor does refer to defense companies used in WWII.
Per vm wiki, the main WT tag dates the machine to 1939.
I tore down to every last bolt, derusted, painted, added a VFD, paddle switch, and 3HP 3PH motor. Gearbox door was repaired using a mapp torch braze to tack pieces together, some aluminum and screws, and some steel stick. I made a custom dust boot and mounted an 80/20 fence from a previous project. Bearings replaced. Original guides still functional after packing bearings with grease. Custom mobile base made of ash, maple, and oak. Used bolts as leveling feet that lift it off its wheels. Lamp was torn apart and rewired to 220V and populated with a european 220V LED. Custom rear blade guard using some black polycarb. Welder and blade breaker currently off and in queue for refurb.
